Dr Abel Ferrés is a neurosurgeon in Barcelona whose practice focuses on spine surgery and neuro-oncology. His work includes endoscopic spine surgery and other minimally invasive approaches.

 

He graduated in Medicine from the Universitat de Girona and completed his neurosurgical residency at Hospital Clínic de Barcelona. He holds a PhD in Medicine from the Universitat de Barcelona, with a cum laude distinction, and completed a clinical observership at Weill Cornell Medicine in New York.

 

His approach centres on assessing each case individually, explaining the diagnosis and considering the available treatment options. Whether surgery is appropriate, and which technique to use, depends on each patient's clinical circumstances and needs.

About Dr Abel Ferrés

Dr Ferrés combines clinical practice with research and medical education. His scientific publications and research activity include minimally invasive endoscopic approaches to complex brain tumours, surgery for spontaneous intracerebral haemorrhage, photodynamic therapy for glioblastoma and the REACT study on cerebral vasospasm. He contributes to the education of medical students at the Universitat de Barcelona and has presented at national and international neurosurgical meetings, including those of the Spanish Society of Neurosurgery (SENEC) and the European Association of Neurosurgical Societies (EANS).
